Cream Cheese Frosting


  • 1 lb softened cream cheese
  • 4 cups icing sugar
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract


In a standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, or with a hand-held mixer in a large bowl, mix the cream cheese and butter until mixed and smooth.  Add vanilla extract.  Add icing sugar gradually until desired consistency.

Please note this is enough icing to layer a 3 layer cake, you could easily halve this if icing cupcakes.
